The one thing to know
Protection can be more complicated than it initially appears, and getting the right advice can help ensure that important risks and liabilities aren’t overlooked.
The biggest myth
In 2025 we supported 100 claims, and £1,133,478 was paid out to our clients. Our Claims Report shows who claimed, what for, and how we helped from the first call to the final payout.
Where to start
It’s worth considering the potential ramifications and how you or your family would deal with them.

I worked with a client who didn’t initially have Critical Illness Cover. Through our advice, I helped put it in place and, within 12 months, she made a claim for cancer.
The claim provided financial support that helped her buy a house and build foundations for her future. Seeing how the protection we had put in place could support her when she needed it most really highlighted the value of the work we do.

Liam explained every detail with patience and made sure I felt comfortable at every step.
Liam took the time to explain the value of income protection, which I never really understood. Now I’ve got peace of mind and proper cover. Couldn’t be happier.
Liam was calm and helpful. He took time to answer my 101 questions about critical illness and what counts as a claim.
I’ve been with Waddle for almost five years. Before that, I was studying a Maths degree at Swansea University.
After graduating, I came across Waddle and saw that the company offered a clear route into financial advice, starting at entry level. It gave me the opportunity to build a career in an industry I was already interested in.
It took me a little longer to find my feet within the role than it did for some people, but over the last 12 months I’ve improved massively and developed into one of the top advisers.
I’ve been broadening my own knowledge and skills, and I want to share that with the people around me. Developing other advisers and supporting their growth ultimately makes a huge difference to the level of customer care we provide.

Superman
Superman turns up when people need him most, and that’s the part of this job I care about. I like knowing that when a client needs their cover, it’s there for them.
Liam, in his own three words.
Where he gets surprisingly competitive. He rates his competitiveness 10/10.
Coffee order? Hot chocolate. Guilty pleasure? Chocolate. Comfort food? Also chocolate.

It doesn’t have a name, but it is older than Liam. Greedy, potentially blind, and doesn’t like other fish living with it.
He could talk about either for hours. A day off means exercise, then the Xbox.
He used to represent the Ospreys at regional level in age-grade rugby. Now he’s joined a triathlon club, and he’s aiming for a half Ironman within 18 months.
His go-to karaoke song, by Frank Sinatra.
Someone empathetic, knowledgeable and has good attention to detail.
A customer who is open and honest about what they want and their personal circumstances. Being truthful and having open conversations is vital when it comes to protection, as the information provided can have an impact on the policy.
I like knowing that clients can rely on me. If a client is worried about a problem, I enjoy being able to help solve it, put the right support in place and give them peace of mind.
Seeing the work I’ve done come into play. A claim is obviously a very difficult and often sad situation, but knowing that I’ve been able to help a family through one of the most challenging times in their lives is incredibly rewarding.
In some circumstances, I’m able to speak directly with the family or claimant and see the value that the work we do can provide.
Our attention to detail. We make sure we have a full understanding of the client and their existing cover before making recommendations.
We go the extra mile to make sure we’re putting clients in a better position and educating them about how their protection works and how it could support their family if they need to claim. Ultimately, it’s about making sure the policy is fit for purpose for that individual client.
My partner. (If she isn’t reading this, then my Xbox)
